Gestational Diabetes Mellitus

Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a type of diabetes that develops during pregnancy when the body cannot produce enough insulin to regulate blood sugar levels. It can be managed through lifestyle factors such as adopting a healthy diet, engaging in regular physical activity, and monitoring blood sugar levels. However, it's essential to understand that having GDM increases the risk of developing type 2 diabetes later in life. Proactive steps, including ongoing lifestyle modifications and regular monitoring of blood sugar levels, can help reduce this risk.
